    • The Royal Palace is home to The Hungarian National Gallery, the National Szechenyi library and The Castle Museum. The Palace itself as been razed to the ground and rebuilt at least half a dozen times over as many centuries, the last time being in 1686. The National Gallery is home to over four floors of Hungarian art. The museum holds an important selection of Hungarian paintings and sculptures and looks at the 2000 years of history of Budapest.
    • In the same district as the castle you will find the impressive domed parliament building with its spires rising up into the sky. It is home to 691 opulently decorated rooms; some you will see on a tour. The building blends architectural styles of neo-Gothic, neo-Romanesque and neo- Baroque and is truly magical and unique.
    • Andrassy ut encompasses an expansive city park, and takes in a tree-lined promenade from the Opera House to the park with some breathtaking buildings along the way. The whole area is on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and you have to see it to believe it.
    • You cannot travel to Budapest without taking a dip in one of the many thermal spas, as many have done before you, right back to Roman times. The Art Nouveau Gellert Baths are a majestic option with their majolica tiles and Roman columns. If you are after sophistication then head to the Szechenyi Baths, where you can play chess in the water. If you are after an historical experience then the 16th century Kiraly Baths are said to be the finest contribution the Turks made to Budapest when they invaded.
    • There are four Michelin-starred restaurants in Budapest. But if you are after a true Hungarian experience then head to Budapest’s Great Market Hall. The incredible, wrought-iron structure is a foodie’s heaven, with meats, cheeses, baked goods, foie gras, truffles, the list goes on and on. Locals head upstairs for a canteen-style lunch, and if Hungarian cookery starts to interest you then why not book onto a culinary package and experience it in a more personal way?
