    • The Frankincense harvested in the Dhofar region is the best in the world. Once traded as a product that was more precious than gold, you can see how this commodity was harvested. Travelling toward the Yemen boarder, through a bird sanctuary, you will see the stark, leafless Frankincense trees scattered throughout the landscape. It's hard to believe that something so valuable, even today, could come from such a simple source. Visit the Museum of the Frankincense Land to get a better understanding of the Frankincense trail, Oman’s history, trade and industry both past and present.
    • The archaeological ruins of the Sumhuram Old City are worth the trip out of Salalah to see. Step back in time at these stunning ruins and marvel at the landscapes that surround them. On your way back stop off at Taqa Castle. This wonderfully restored castle has guides on hand to show you the beauty of this building, and share many aspects of Omani culture with you. Climb to the roof and you can take excellent photos of the surrounding area.
    • To really get a feel for Salalah and the Dhofar region it is best to hire a car. This way you can drive into the misty mountains to take in the view, or visit Nabi Ayoub’s Tomb. An interesting place for all faiths, this is possibly the resting place of Job. It is a must when visiting Salalah.
    • Salalah Gardens mall offers a range of shops, restaurant and entertainment for those who are ready for relaxation away from the beach. It even includes a traditional souq, alongside high street fashion outlets and a hypermarket.
